CEMETERY REMINDER

Please remove all Winter decorations by March 1st and all Summer decorations by October 1st. Please refrain from using glass containers. Any flower pots not covering flowers will be discarded. Please keep decorations and flowers against the grave markers or to an end of grave, as to allow for passage through the aisles for mowing!

LIFELINE

"Destruction of the embryo in the mother's womb is a violation of the right to live which God has bestowed on this innocent life. To raise the question whether we are here concerned already with a human being or not is merely to confuse the issue. The simple fact is that God certainly intended to create a human being and that this human being has been deliberately deprived of his life."
           Dietrich Bonhoeffer

PARISH MISSION STATEMENT

"We, the People of God, under the combined patronage of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Saint Joseph, are called to be disciples of Jesus Christ. As members of the Body of Christ, gathering for worship around the Table of Word and Sacrament of the Eucharist, we commit ourselves to love and support one another in faith, hope and love. We are sent forth as apostles, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to make the Good News of Jesus Christ present and alive in our world through evangelization and hospitality, healing and service, education and the establishment of justice."

Sheets, containing signatures of those who attended the Re-dedication Mass at St. Joseph's Church in Nuremberg on July 11th, 1936, were found in the cornerstone. If you are interested in these signatures, go to the home page on our parish web site - http://sacredheartandstjosephsparish.com/ and then click the bar two-thirds of the way down to get to the signature page. You can copy them or print them on legal size paper!

LIVING FAITH

Issues of LIVING FAITH for January, February & March are available IN THE REAR OF THE CHURCH.

NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING

Natural Family Planning enables spouses to understand fertility and work with it, either to plan or space pregnancy. Modern NFP is very effective, costs next to nothing, has no side effects and is morally acceptable. Call the Office for Parish Life 207-2213 to let us know you are coming and for directions!
FOR LOCAL CONTACT, CALL ERIC & BERNADETTE JESPERSEN AT 788-4560!

WHEN IS GLORIA SAID?

The Gloria is a very ancient and venerable hymn in which the Church, gathered together in the Holy Spirit, glorifies and entreats God the Father and the Lamb. The text of this hymn may not be replaced by any other text. The Gloria is intoned by the priest or, if appropriate, by a cantor or by the choir; but it is sung either by everyone together, or by the people alternately with the choir, or by the choir alone. If not sung, it is to be recited either by all together or by two parts of the congregation responding one to the other.
IT IS SUNG OR SAID ON SUNDAYS OUTSIDE THE SEASONS OF ADVENT AND LENT, ON SOLEMNITIES AND FEASTS, AND AT SPECIAL CELEBRATIONS OF A MORE SOLEMN CHARACTER.

CHINESE AUCTION 2014

The Altar & Rosary Society and Holy Name Society will be sponsoring the 16th Annual Chinese Auction on Sunday, March 30th. Our parish genuinely needs your help to make this a successful event. Our Altar & Rosary Society and Holy Name Society provide funds for many of our essential parish functions, so we are asking for a donation of a new item or a monetary gift - or families or groups may go together to make a gift basket. All proceeds will benefit your parish.
Your help in making this a successful event will be greatly appreciated. The Auction will be held at the Nuremberg/Weston Fire Hall. Doors will be open at 12:00 noon and the drawing will be 2:00 P.M. There will soon be a box in the rear of the church for you to drop off a contribution.
We also have certain people throughout the community that you may call upon for assistance in offering a donation. They are John Ambruch (384-1178), Tom Dalesandro (384-4488), Johanna Eckrote ((384-4751), Julia Mazzoli (384-2465), Diane Petrovich (384-3203) or Dolly Wolk (384-4215). ROSARY BEFORE MASS

In order to allow the faithful the time to pray privately in preparation for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, public group recitation of the rosary will begin, if anyone chooses, at 3:15 on Saturdays and 8:15 on Sundays.
It's important to understand "a plenary indulgence is granted, once a day, by praying the rosary, privately or in common, before the Blessed Sacrament, exposed or in the tabernacle.."
To avoid any confusion, it is stated clearly that "whether the words are audible or not, they need to be vocalized in the mind - perhaps while moving the lips silently!"
FOLLOWING THE ADVICE OF OUR BISHOP, WE WILL CONTINUE TO SAY A DECADE OF THE ROSARY FOR VOCATIONS A FEW MINUTES BEFORE BOTH WEEKEND MASSES!

PARISH ON FACEBOOK

You can find our parish on Facebook as "Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish" in Weston!

MARRIAGE PREPARATIONS

Couples contemplating marriage should make no arrangements prior to notifying their pastor. This should be done at least six (6) months before the date on which they wish to marry. Because marriage is a sacred and serious commitment, no couple can be suitably served by their pastor unless they begin their meetings with him at least two (2) months before the planned marriage.

We have a rather sparse supply of books at the present time, but we are hoping for donations from fellow parishioners. (Please leave donations in the box on the floor so they can be catalogued.
The bookshelves are located in the foyer of the downstairs chapel of Sacred Heart Church and will be open for borrowing from 8:00am until 12:00 noon every Sunday. Please use the sign-out book which is located on the shelves. The videos available are family oriented, but we ask all parents to determine what is appropriate for their individual child. Thank you!"
